About Jessica

 

Jessica A. Pauly is an Assistant Professor at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Dr. Pauly received her B.A. in communication studies in 2007 from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She worked full time as a merchandizing coordinator in New York City at Marcolin and then as a project manager with MARR International GROUP until 2011. In 2014, Dr. Pauly received her M.A. in communication studies from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, working full-time in the Center for Civic and Social Responsibility. In 2018 she received her Ph.D. from the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University

Dr. Pauly started teaching at UVU in the fall of 2018. She teaches courses in communication. She uses qualitative methods to explore organizations, gender, and religion. Dr. Pauly has been involved with Service Learning as a pedagogy to encourage students to become engaged citizens, and enjoys partnering with (and learning from) local organizations. A prolific writer, Dr. Pauly previously wrote a weekly feature for the Lawrence Journal World while maintaining her weekly blog Mrs. Mass, but these days, she spends more time writing academic articles for publication.

Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska; Jessica enjoys baking pies, writing handwritten letters, and enjoying a walk with her husband, Matthew Pauly, and her dachshund Herbie.
