As a scholar, Dr. Pauly’s guiding interests reside in organizational communication, gender studies, and social change. Her recent research projects focus on feminist mentoring, student educational identities and religious feminist organizing.

Dr. Pauly utilizes qualitative methods (i.e., interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic fieldwork) to explore organizations, gender, and religion. Her research and academic interests coupled with skillful networking have taken her across the world to Ghana, Denmark, Slovenia, Kenya, and Perú.

When she’s not reading and writing, Jessica enjoys baking pies from scratch, sending snail mail to loved ones near and far, practicing Spanish, and spending time with her family. A born and raised Nebraskan who spent a few seasons in New York, Kansas, Indiana, and Utah, Jessica currently resides in the Bay Area.
